About Us
Indian Body Builders Federation
Building champions, empowering athletes, and advancing bodybuilding excellence across India through dedication and opportunity.
Truly a Federation of the Body Builders, by the Body Builders, and for the Body Builders. The IBBF was formed to propagate and popularize the sport of bodybuilding in India. It was recognized as the only National Sports Federation for the sport of bodybuilding in India by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) from 2012 to 2021.
The IBBF today has 40 State Associations/Union Territories and Government Sports Control Boards affiliated with it and is the only sports federation with such government affiliations. There are more than 5000 athletes (men and women) registered with the IBBF. Over the years, female participation among athletes has significantly increased, showcasing the federation’s commitment to gender inclusivity. Many of these athletes are recruited under the Sports Quota with affiliated Sports Control Boards, which also extend facilities and promotional incentives in government bodies, as well as eligibility for National Sports Awards for athletes participating in IBBF-organized competitions.
The IBBF is proud to provide some of the best lodging and boarding facilities for its athletes, along with cash awards, trophies, and medals during its Senior, Junior, and other Classic Championships, ensuring athletes receive top-notch support and recognition for their efforts.
The Executive Committee of IBBF is proud to include several illustrious and prominent personalities in the field of bodybuilding like Shri Swamy Ramesh Kumar (President), Shri Premchand Degra, Mr. Universe (Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee), along with Shri T.V. Pauly (Arjuna Awardee), Shri S. Bhaskaran (Arjuna Awardee) and Shri Chetan Pathare, General Secretary of IBBF, who also serves as the Secretary General of the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation, are all part of the IBBF’s Executive Committee.
In recent years, the representation of female officials in the IBBF’s Executive Committee has increased, promoting gender diversity and leadership within the organization.
